On Tuesday 5th June at Milton Keynes National Bowl, three of Stevenage Cycling Club’s veteran riders took part in the LVRC criterium race. They were part of a field of 60 and gained three top twenty places in their respective groups.
Dave Lowson was once again the lead rider finishing 11th, with Gary Smithson and Paul Milner 16th and 18th respectively.
Great conditions saw a fast paced race on a circuit which starts in the main arena and then half way into the race, explodes onto an adjacent area, where the course gets technical. With such good conditions average speeds reached 25mph.
Our three veteran racers (all aged 40+) are keen to keep representing Stevenage Cycling Club throughout the season at the weekly race circuit. If you fancy having a try, you’ll need to get a League of Veteran Race Cyclists license, which can be obtained online.
Race Director, Gary Smithson, said he was very pleased with the group’s progress and is looking forward to further success as the season continues.
