Touring Central America
In October three members of the SCC cycle toured Central America. Over two weeks Ade, Chris and Walt rode through Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. After landing in Managua, the cycle tour began from Granada in Nicaragua and finished at the Panama Canal.

Highlights of the tour included:
– The breathtaking scenery
– Cycling by Lake Nicaragua
– Getting a ferry to and staying on Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua and then cycling around Maderas volcano. One of two that dominate the island.
– In Costa Rica, cycling around Arenal Lake and Volcano.
– Cycling through the Orosi Valley.
– Meeting and getting close to a Sloth out in the wild.
– In Panama, staying on and touring the Bocos del Toro islands.
– Visiting the Panama Canal.
– Cycling the Panama City coastline.

The terrain varied from undulating to mountainous. Much of the route was on dirt or gravel as well as tarmac.
To ensure the distance could be covered in the two weeks, some sections were completed using the minibus with the bikes stored on the roof.
